Well Ryde riders are definitely putting on a great show at zone events. Last weekend at Zone Equitation we had 5 riders representing the club. The weather was revolting but the horses and riders were like shining lights in the mist.

  • Kate Latimer on Moet  8th

  • Michelle Noga on Flame 10th

  • Giselle Signorelli on Bundy 2nd & 9th

  • Adelaide Doughty on Nick 8th & 6th

  • Mav Miles on Ricki 5th & 9th

  • Tyson King on Out of the Shadows 4th & 2nd

What an excellent result especially for our newer members who were experiencing equitation for the first time. I felt so proud of you all.

Lisa, Narelle and I attended a wonderful Instructors day at Dural Pony Club early in the month and are looking forward to passing on our updated skills to you all.

PLEASE NOTE: the message below from our Zone Chief Instructor Jill Hawker which we will all be checking at rally days so there are no problems at Zone events.

1. Riders must be aware that they need to be rechecked every time they reenter the arena.

2. Helmets must be 3838

3. Stirrup irons must be big enough for the boots-

4. Stitching must be regularly checked on girth ponts and stirrup leathers that it is not coming loose and leather should not be cracked

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

·    Zone Show Jumping (at Ryde) set up on Friday 11th May to help Janelle & David.  Even if it is just a few hours, it makes all the difference.

·    Someone to organise a raffle for the Zone show jumping.  This can be a few people working together to obtain donations for prizes & selling tickets on the day.

·    Someone to organise getting everyone & anyone to bake cakes, slices, chocolate crackles to sell at the canteen at zone showjumping – these always go down a treat & a great way to make some $$ for the club.

·    Adopt a Jump.  For anyone handy out there or has a green thumb, we would like to revitalise some of the cross country jumps.  If you let us know who you are then we can then give you a jump to work on.

·    Who can paint?  The clubhouse door & verandah posts still show the signs of recent graffiti attempts.  The door is metal so would require a paint that goes on metal, maybe a nice forest green to match our club colours (would need to be done on a rally day or by anyone who has a key to the clubhouse).  The posts are an off white colour & can be painted anytime.

·    The dressage arena.  We can treat this like painting the harbour bridge, once you complete it, you need to start over again.  So anyone who has a matic, shovel or rake is always welcome to spend some time pulling the sand (held together by lots of grass) away from the arena edges.  This is back breaking work but better than the gym & free!

·    In general.  The more the merrier on a rally day, if you would like a job to do then please ask Kelly or Lisa.

Please ring Lisa or Kelly to see how you would be able to help, unmounted if necessary.
